Image Gallery Setup

Add New Client Type

So that the contact details of users who download images can be stored correctly in the Booking Centres Client Database, a new Client Type will need to be added.  Follow these steps to set up a new Client Type;

 

1.Click Client Categories under the Administration heading of the Main Menu

2.Click Add New Item to open the Add Client Types screen

3.Enter a Client Type you wish to categories your Image Gallery users by i.e. Media or Image Gallery

4.Tick Available and click Add Client Type

Setup the Image Categories

First the image Categories need to be set up in the Staff Console. For example: Beach; Forest; Wine & Food etc.

 

1.To add a Category, click Categories under the Image Gallery section of the Main Menu

2.Click ADD NEW ITEM, the Add Category page will be displayed

3.Use the table below to fill in the fields;

 

Category

Enter in the Category name

Available

Tick if the Category is currently available

Sort Order

If you enter 1, this Category will display first in the list of Categories, 2 will list the Category second etc.  If you leave the Sort Order blank, the Categories will be listed in alphabetical order.

4.Click Save

 

Setup the Image Details

 

1.Click Images under the Image Gallery section of the Main Menu

2.Click on ADD NEW ITEM, the Add Product page will be displayed

3.Use the table below to fill in the fields;

 

Code

Enter a unique code for this image.  Keep the image code simple and do not use any spaces.  The image code will be used in the filename when uploading this image.  The unique code can made made up of letters and numbers. Example: Beach01

Description

Enter a brief description or name of the image.  This text will appear under the image on the website.

Category

Select up to 3 relevant Categories for this image.

Tick Box Options

Tick the relevant boxes, this may assist the user to narrow down their image search in the gallery.

Keywords

Enter any relevant keywords, this may assist the user to narrow down their image search in the gallery.

4.Click Save.

Rename the Images

Each image will require 3 differently sized pictures named according to the table below;

1. Thumbnail

The Thumbnail picture should be a small version of the image.  This image is viewable in the gallery search results. The filename needs to be exactly the same as the Image Code

Imagecode

Image Name: Beach01.jpg

aprox 150 pixels wide

2. Preview

The Preview picture is what is displayed once the user clicks the Thumbnail.  This is a larger image that will allow the user to view the image in more detail before downloading the full size image.  The filename needs to be exactly the same as the Image Code with “A” added to the end.

3. Download

The Download picture is a high resolution image that the user will be able to download once they have agreed to the Terms and Conditions.  The filename needs to be exactly the same as the Image code with “B” added to the end.

Upload the Images

Images can be uploaded individually, however if there is a batch of images to upload at once, follow these steps first;

 

1.Place all of your items into a folder on your Desktop

2.Highlight all images by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing A

3.Hover your mouse over the selection of images and right-mouse-click, a menu will pop up

4.Select Send To >> Compressed (zipped) Folder - see below;

This will then place a sipped file in your folder.  Now you are ready to upload the batch of images.

 

1.Click Upload Images under the Website & Marketing section of the Main Menu

2.Click on Browse and navigate to the location where the images are saved ie Desktop

3.Click on the Image to upload OR choose the newly created zip folder containing the batch of images

4.Click Open.  The filepath will be displayed next to the Browse button

5.If you are uploading a batch of images using a zip file, tick the Extract Files from Archive button before the next step

6.Click on Upload Images/Files.  The message “File was uploaded successfully” will be displayed when the file is uploaded.

 

Please note: if you are uploading a batch of images, the upload time will be quite long.  A progress bar will display to indicate how long the upload will take.

 

Your correctly named images will now display in the gallery and have been allocated the relevant Category(ies).  The next step is to Activate Image Gallery to appear on the website.
